Pool (round robin)
Every team plays every other team in the pool. After all matches the standings decide the winner. Suitable for smaller groups and when everyone should play the same number of matches.
Tournament software for clubs, schools and events
Enter your teams, pools, fields and available time. YSP Tournament builds the match schedule, keeps rest between matches into account and works out standings and follow-up matches automatically during the tournament.
Setting up and trying it out is free. Participating teams need no account and no subscription.
YSP Tournament is an online tournament planner by YourSportPlanner. You use it to organise a sports tournament: from teams and pools to the match schedule, the results and the final standings.
The schedule is generated automatically from the number of teams, the fields, the match duration and the time you have. You can then move matches by hand. During the tournament you enter results and everyone sees the current programme and standings on a public page.
Setting up a tournament follows a fixed order. Every step has sensible defaults, so you quickly have a first schedule.
Choose the format that fits the number of teams and the available time. You can change the format as long as there are no results yet.
Every team plays every other team in the pool. After all matches the standings decide the winner. Suitable for smaller groups and when everyone should play the same number of matches.
The loser is out, the winner goes through to the next round until the final. Quick, with few matches. A third-place match can be added.
Pools first, then the best teams per pool go through to semi-finals and a final. The most common format for club tournaments.
With two pools, the winners play the runners-up of the other pool (1A v 2B, 1B v 2A). That way the pool winners can only meet in the final.
The schedule is generated from the details you enter. YSP takes into account:
If it does not fit in the available time, you see that straight away, with an indication of how much more time is needed.
A generated schedule is a starting point. You stay in control.
This is what a schedule made by YSP Tournament looks like for a morning tournament with 20-minute matches and 5 minutes changeover.
Two pools of four teams. In each pool every team plays three matches: twelve pool matches in total. With two fields, two matches are always played at the same time.
The top two of each pool play crossover semi-finals. The winners play the final, the losers play for third place. Sixteen matches in total, from 09:00 to about 13:05.
| Time | Field 1 | Field 2 |

On tournament day you enter results on your phone. The rest happens automatically.
The score or set scores per match, with large input fields for use pitchside.
Points, difference and head-to-head; you choose the tie-breakers yourself.
As soon as a pool is complete, the qualified teams are fixed.
Semi-finals and final are filled in automatically. Correct a result later and you see what changes.
Programme, results, standings and knockout bracket on one link, without logging in.
The tournament module takes the chosen sport into account. The sport sets sensible defaults; you decide the actual rules, also when you deliberately play shorter matches.
For football, hockey, handball, korfball and basketball: a result like 3-1. Draws in the pools are possible if you allow them; in the knockout you choose extra time, penalties or a shoot-out.
For volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, padel and squash: a score per set (25-18, 22-25, 15-11) and YSP works out the set score (2-1). Best of 3, one set to 21 or a fixed number of sets.
A tight day schedule? Play timed matches, for example 20 minutes. You decide what counts when time is up, such as sets won first and then total points.
More per sport:
Participating teams need no YourSportPlanner account and pay nothing. You add them with a name and optionally a contact person.
If you use referees, switch them on for the tournament. YSP spreads refereeing duties over teams that are not playing at that time, avoids a team refereeing just before or after its own match and shares the duties fairly. You can also assign individual referees.
If you do not use referees, you see nothing of it: no columns, no warnings and nothing on the public page. The match schedule always comes first; referees are assigned afterwards.
Enter and correct results, view standings and keep track of the schedule from the sideline.
Their own programme with times, fields, opponents and any refereeing duties.
