YSP Tournament

Organise a volleyball tournament

Plan a volleyball tournament with pools, multiple courts and set scores. YSP Tournament builds the schedule, works out the set score and pool standings and fills the knockout automatically.

Setting up and trying it out is free. Participating teams need no account and no subscription.

Play on sets or timed

Choose per tournament how matches are played: best of 3 to 25 points with a deciding set to 15, one set to 21 or a fixed number of sets. With a tight day schedule you play timed, for example 15 minutes, where sets won and then total points decide when time is up. Each stage can have its own format.

Pools and set difference

In the pools a team earns points for a win, or one point per set won. On a tie you can sort by set difference, set ratio, points difference and head-to-head, in the order you choose.

Multiple courts in a sports hall

Enter how many courts you have and how long a match may take in the schedule. With volleyball on sets the real duration varies; that is why you plan with a fixed time per match, separate from the match format.

Enter set scores

On the live screen you enter the score per set, such as 25-18, 22-25 and 15-11. The set score (2-1) and the winner are worked out automatically. On the public page the result shows as 2-1 with the set scores below.

Crossover semi-finals and final

After the pools, the best teams play crossover semi-finals and a final. The knockout can use another format, for example best of 3, while the pools play one set.

Refereeing by participating teams

In volleyball, teams often referee themselves. Switch referees on and YSP spreads the duties over teams that are not playing, fairly and as little as possible right before or after their own match. Teams see their refereeing duties in their own programme.

Example

12 teams in 3 pools of 4 on 3 courts: each pool plays on its own court. Pool matches one set to 25, semi-finals and final best of 3. The teams referee the matches of the other pools.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play one set in the pools and best of 3 in the final?

Yes. Set the match format of the tournament and give the knockout stage its own format.

How are volleyball standings calculated?

You choose points for a win, draw and loss, or one point per set won. Then the tie-breakers you choose decide the order, such as set difference and points difference.

Do teams have to referee?

You decide. Referees are off by default; switch them on if teams or your own referees should officiate.

Ready to organise your tournament?

Set up your tournament for free and look at the schedule. Small tournaments are completely free; for bigger ones you only choose a plan when you start inviting and publishing.
